SSW set new standards for freight ferry traffic between Calais and Dover with the "European Seaway". Through this ship and her three sisters, "European Highway", "European Seaway", "European Pathway" and "Pride of Burgundy", the biggest ships in ferry traffic are used between Europe and the British Isles.
As a result of a cruising speed of 21 kn, 124 freight units of 15 m in length are transported in less than four hours. Comfortable facilities have been provided on board for passengers and a 50-man crew.
