Shipbuilding HallThe shipbuilding hall is 340 m long and 60 m wide. A total area of 20,400 square meters is therefore available under cover for cutting steel plates. Steel is delivered by lorry on a daily basis from a steel warehouse in Bremen. There is a temporary storage area near the shipbuilding hall that covers steel requirements for approximately a week. The shipbuilding hall is essentially equipped with:
Pre-Assembly HallThe pre-assembly hall is 81 m long and 59 m wide with a total area of 4,780 square meters under cover. This is where, with a craneway height of 14 m, curved pieces of steel, e.g. for the bulbous bow, are processed further. This hall is equipped with four gantry cranes in total, two of which have a lifting capacity of up to 30 t each and two with a capacity of up to 15 t. Objects are transported to the building area Westdock by a craneway which runs to the end of the docks and to the building area Helgen by means of an industrial truck. Steel Structure HallThe steel structure hall is 60 m long and 32 m wide and has a total area of 1,920 square meters under cover. This is where bigger structural steel pieces such as funnels and exhaust hoods are made. The hall is equipped with two floor-operated gantry cranes with a lifting capacity of 20 t each, eight floor-operated lifting beam cranes with a lifting capacity of 1.6 t each, a bending press, plate shears for pieces of steel up to 10 mm thick and a roller to make things round. | |
